Ep. 77 - Richard Wagner's Ring Cycle (Der Ring des Nibelungen) with Leigh Walton

weezer at their most bluealbumiest

*Sweater Song party chatter plays softly* On this week's show we're taking a deep dive into the wet and wild world of Richard Wagner and The Ring Cycle with Leigh Walton (@leighwalton, Top Shelf Comics). There's a TON to cover about this classical music weirdo and his incredibly dense, dramatic music that we barely wind up scratching the surface. Valkyries! Hitler! The Robot from Interstellar! And so much more! Leigh's Wagner starter guides can be found Here and Here!

Like for real though gang if you could leave us a review on Apple Podcasts that would be stellar. I know you're sick of hearing people say "it like super helps tho" but it like super helps tho

Ep. 76 - Gossip Girl with Tyler McCall

homie's dead ass doing columbo

'scuse me, uh, one more thing sir: this is, uh, an episode of the podcast I Think You'd Be Into It, if I'm recalling correctly. I am? Great, sir! Wonderful! And it's an episode with the great Tyler McCall (Editor-In-Chief of Fashionista.com, @Eiffeltyler), about the television program Gossip Girl, is that also correct sir? It is? Fantastic, that's what I thought, I just get so confused in those ol' brain sometimes I wanted to make sure! It sounds like a great episode, with lotsa deep discussions about the over the top dramatics and, uh, amazing costumes of this pioneering teen drama, sir, it sure does, which leads me to the only natural conclusion...I think you'd be into it.

*Perp is like "FIIIIIINE, YA' GOT ME!* oh and uh one more one more thing: leave a rating an' a review on the ol' Apple Podcasts, it'd really help us out.

Ep. 75 - Frank Zappa with Brian Rubinow

math rock and then the tuba makes a fart sound

GIRL YOU THOUGHT IT WAS A POD BUT IT WAS A PODCAAAAAAAAAST *TEN MINUTE GUITAR SOLO*

On this week's show we're keepin' it greezy as Brian Rubinow (@brubinow, drummer for Inkblot, Shitpost at The Pack) joins us to talk Frank Zappa! We get our peaches all en regalia as we talk about one of music's most divisive iconoclasts. Was he a genius? Was he an insufferable turd? Was he probably both? That's where the smart money is, friends! Also hey uh ZFT please please don't sue us for using music in this one love you thx.

a multi-dimensional rock-a-billy demon in my head

This week, we summon the Celtic Tiger to bring the Celtic Thunder like a....Mannheim Steamroller?, no, that's a christmas thing...as Courtney Paige Barnett (@openbarnett, Haymaker, Gallery 1988) joins us to discuss all things Irish Dance! We click clack click clack about everything from Courtney's history with the art to the various to the increasingly insanely named Riverdance/Michael Flatley spin-off shows, and we take a brief detour to learn what it's like to open for Flogging Molly.

Plus: Brandon looks into his future and it looks shocking like Greg Kinnear in The Stand.

Don't get caught Flatleyfooted by forgetting to leave a review and rating on the ol' Apple Podcasts app. It's a bad app but it's an important thing! Do that and then please download Overcast :)

"Quibi is written by the victors"

On this week's show, cartoonist, writer, and creator of Real Hero Shit Kendra Wells (@kendrawcandraw) joins us to talk Dragon Age, a series that Brandon definitely knew was different than Skyrim. We talk about the plethora of romance options, the depth of the writing and world, and how the game's combination of deep character customization and very limited gender options helped Kendra realize that they are non-binary. Plus: We measure many many things in terms of Quibis! Don't forget to Foos! Roh! Dah! a review on the ol' Apple Podcasts thingamajig!

Ep. 71 - Neon Genesis Evangelion with Sara Brown

congratulations! CongRatuLationss! CoNGraTulATIons?! Cong!RatULATIONs;c o n gratulatinsz::

Look, I'm not even gonna sugarcoat it: This episode is about Neon Genesis Evangelion, which is like a whoooooooole thing, and I can't blame you for being intimidated by it if you haven't seen it. That being said, our guest today, Super Dating Simulator's Sara Brown (@saraisnotfamous) does a really really good job of making this wet and wild world feel super accessible. We go deep on the show's history, how a modest animation budget led to some amazing battle scenes and even more amazingly static non-battle scenes, and the sheer cosmic horror of End of Evangelion.

Plus, one do Netflix one better and actually end our episode with Fly Me To The Moon. Your move, NOTflix!

Ep. 70 - Halyx with Matthew Serrano

a robot in a space golf cart

In the summer of 1981, an intergalactic rock band called Halyx made their debut at The Space Stage in Disneyland. Since the band's tenure in the shadow of Space Mountain only lasted a summer, their rocking legacy was almost lost to time, until.... In the summer of 2020, filmmaker Matthew Serrano (@matthewgserrano) in partnership with Defunctland released Halyx: Live From The Space Stage, an exhaustive, in depth history of maybe the only truly rock 'n' roll thing that has ever happened on a Disney property. But had he been on a niche podcast to talk about it? No one was sure, until.....

In the final weeks of 2020, the hosts of I Think You'd Be Into It slid into his DMs to buy a Halyx fan club pin and were also like "hey come be on our show and talk about this amazing documentary that Brandon won't stop talking about" and he was like "yeah alright." This is that episode.

Plus we only talk about Horizons for, like, 15 minutes or so.
