Ep. 67 - Old School RPGs with Matt Pick

IF YOU WHEEL OF TIME/I'LL BE FIRST IN LINE/BABY I'M STILL FREE/WHEEL OF TIME ON ME

This week we're taking an airship back to the early days of RPGs with Matt Pick (@Freearcadia) to go deep on Finals Fantasy, Chronos Trigger, and Supers Mario RPG among other early classic! We talk about the music, graphics and general sense of wonder that permeated those early games and how everything changed once the genre went 3D. Producer's Note: We do not discuss the amount of teens present in Final Fantasy XV, and for this we deeply apologize. We here at I Think You'd Be Into It have always known that there are in fact four teens present in that video game. Thank you for your support, and we promise to do better in the future. IT'S A VERY GOOD CONVERSATION, AND IT LASTS ABOUT AN HOUR AND EIGHT MINUTES. MOST OF THEM ARE ABOUT ME, DAVID LYNCH, AND MY FILMS. RIGHT NOW IT'S 62 DEGREES FARENHEIT HERE IN LA, AND WILL BE RISING TO APPROXIMATELY 79 DEGREES, AND WE SHOULD BE EXPECTING THOSE BLUE SKIES AND GOLDEN SUNSHINE ALL THE ALONGGGG THE WAY. EVERYONE: HAVE A PLEASANT DAY.

Ep. 65 - Home Movies with Michael Chap Resnick

splurts of space ghost

*PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING IN THE VOICE OF RON LYNCH* Uh, hello. Welcome to the show notes for the, uh, I Think You're Gonna--no, excuse me--I Think You'll Be In It, "The problematic podcast about your favorites." I'm Mr. Lynch, and I'm going to be reading the show notes this week. This week's guest is Michael Chap Resnick (@MCResnick), who you might know from the sketch team Tantrum, or from his podcast Aw, Did I Audit That? And no, it is not a podcast about a forgetful IRS employee. Hehe. Anyway. Tonight's podcast is a discussion about the television series Home Movies, of which I, the character of Mr. Lynch as voiced by Los Angeles comedy stalwart Ron Lynch, was a part. "Please wrap this up so the show can begin. Do not forget to mention that they should leave a review and rating on Apple Podcasts." Well, you heard the note. Enjoy the show everyone.

Ep. 64 - Homestar Runner with Madeline Maye

a lot of high strung rich people being tense at each other

On this week's show we journey back to the early, prehistoric days of the internet (2000-2004) to talk Homestar Runner with the one and only Madeline Maye (Inkblot, Land Before Time Land). We go deep on this eaerly internet sensation, and how it came about and was also able to flourish as a piece of written animation in the pre-YouTube days. We also do a ton of the voices. Like, a ton. Like, so much that you'd think it actually WAS 2004 again and we were your annoying friends before class on Monday morning trying to remember the jokes from the sbemail that we watched while half awake like 45 minutes ago.

Ep. 63 - Retail Archaeology with Erik Pierson

Brutalist Sears

Everybody get your neon signs and arcade tokens, because we're going to visit some old malls! This week Erik Pierson, creator of Retail Archaeology (@retailarchaeology) joins us to talk the nostalgia and mystery found in old, nearly abandoned malls, department stores and other monuments to the hubris of capitalism! We also talk a LOT about a cool plaza in San Diego that Brandon got drunk in during Comic-Con which is now gonna be like a fukken tech campus or something.

Kiss The Downeaster My-Ass-xa

YOU GET YOUR POD CASTED TO YOU EV-ER-Y DAY YOU GET YOU POD CASTED TO YOU EV-RY DAY YOU GET YOUR POD CASTED TO YOU EV-RY DAY YOUGETPODDEDYOUROWNCASTEVERYDAYHAWHAWHAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW The big day is here, everybody! A Phish episode! Featuring actual found in the wild Phish fan Myles Hewette (@myleswithay, Infinite Sketch), we talk about this insane band that most people don't get and probably kinda hate for nearly two hours. I keep trying to think of jokes for this one but, like, honestly Phish is my favorite thing and I hope we at least made it make at least a bit more sense to people.

Ep. 61 - Dolly Parton with Becca Greenberg

I'd let Jane Fonda hunt me

Pod To Five! Oh what a way to post to libsyn! Barely castin' by! It's always makin' and no listenin'! Makes you lose your mind until you hear this week's episode on the woman, the womyth, the wolegend the wone and only Ms Dolly Parton with the (other) one and only Becca Greenberg (@pizzabagelbecca)! We go deep on Dolly's music, writing, and years and years of philanthropic and political work. Beth and Becca do a great job of making sure Brandon doesn't talk about Dollywood too much, which is probably a good thing because he's never actually been so his enthusiasm for the subject outweighs his personal knowledge.

If you like this mess go ahead and leave a rating and review on the ol' iTunes box. It's like a complaint box but for nice things about us!

Ep. 60 - Young Guns with Mike Rose

shouldn't be afwaaaaaaid

Baaaaang baaaaaang, shoooo-ooh-ooh-hooooooot

On today's show we bury ourselves in a grave marked "Pals" as we discuss the batshit crazy 80s western Young Guns with Mike Rose (@MikeFlowers99, co-creator of Sketch That Tune). Brandon didn't have time to watch the movie before we recorded so he mostly sits this one out, which is probably for the best as this cocaine fueled cowboy romp gave Mike and Beth more than enough to talk about. Plus: Brandon does an impression of Andrew Fernandez like siiiiix tiiiiiiiiimes.

Don't forget to subscribe and leave a review on the ol' iTunes review page! Or whatever it is now! I'm 33! I don't know anymore, honestly.

Controversial Statement: Columbus sucks

NA NA NA NA NAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

On this week's show, musician/podcaster/my old podcast boss Allie Goertz (@alliegoertz, Everything's Coming Up Simpsons/Round Springfield) joins us to talk MTV's late 90s classic Daria. We talk about the shocking depth found in this "too cool for school" character, and her oddly specific place in the TRL/Spring Break era of MTV.
